ABORIGINAL HEALTH

FIRST NATIONS HEALTH

Closing the Gap is a government program that aims to reduce Indigenous disadvantage with respect to health, life expectancy, access to early childhood education, educational achievement and employment outcomes. To improve these outcomes you are able to access additional free services through you Doctor to help you and your family stay healthy. Some of these services include:
  • Regular free health checks to monitor your health,
  • Immunisations
  • Baby, children and youth health services,
  • Allied Health Services
  • Local community services
  • Chronic disease management
  • Access to more affordable medicines.
First Nations people statistically develop more chronic diseases and get them earlier in life than non-indigenous Australians. Using these services can help to reduce the risks, identify these diseases and treat them early.

To learn more about the benefits of registering for the Closing the Gap program please phone reception on 4938 1300 and make an appointment with your Doctor.
